Step-by-step set-up guides:

Elk WIRE

The Elk WIRE plugin connects Elk with your DAW of choice and lets you run remote sessions over the internet using your favorite effects, software instruments, and backing tracks.

Setting up Elk WIRE should be quite straightforward, but there are a few things that are good to be aware of.

Plugin Placement

The Elk WIRE plugin can technically be placed on any type of track in your DAW, but it's optimized to be used on bus/return tracks.

Sending Audio to Elk WIRE

If the plugin is placed on a bus track/return track, use the sends, set to pre-fader, on your audio/instrument tracks to route audio to it. Adjust the send pots for a good input signal to the Elk app. If you’re sending audio from more than one track, please use the sends to create your mix.

"Waiting for audio" & Activating Elk WIRE

To start working, the plugin needs to receive an audio callback from your DAW. Sometimes DAWs don't call audio processing on a plugin until they think it's necessary. The easiest way to make sure that happens is to send audio through the plugin. Either through live monitoring on a track, playing a MIDI instrument, or sending recorded audio to the bus that the plugin is assigned to.
